TACKLE FOOTBALL

Our league will teach your child the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship while learning the basics of football with an emphasis on Dragon Pride and Dragon terminology. We will prepare them for their transition to PCMS football and eventually PHS Football.

PRACTICES

Practices usually start Mid-August and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the PHS practice fields. Practices are usually 90 minutes long at Pittsburg High School. Additional Monday practice and conditioning nights may be added before the games start.

JAMBOREE

There will be a preseason Jamboree one Saturday morning/afternoon the first part of September. A Jamboree is a set of small/quick scrimmages with other local teams. The Jamboree is usually hosted by Pittsburg.

SEASON

Games are usually played on Saturday mornings. Our game season will begin the week following the Jamboree. In a typical season we will play 5-6 games (3 home and 3 away) with a bye week. Home games are played at Hutch Field. Away games are played at other local schools.  Our game season wraps up before Halloween.

COACHES

Coaches are carefully selected by the Jr. Dragons Board of Directors and will be USA Football Heads Up certified, and will have a background check completed. Coaches will also attend a Dragon Football specific coaching clinic.

COMMUNICATION

Good communication in our league is vital. Our main source of communication will be through our Facebook page: @JrDragonsYouthLeague.

Once teams are selected, each head coach will run a Remind group for their respective teams.
